Summary

Eight-year-old David Bernstein is dismayed to discover there are seventeen David Bernsteins in the Manhattan telephone book. He doesn't want to be just another David Bernstein, he wants excitement and adventure-just like Ali Baba in The Arabian Nights. So, David changes his name to Ali Baba Bernstein-and his life does get a lot more exciting. Ali Baba does things David never would have done-like confront the jewel theif who hid his finery in the basement laundry room, or kiss a frog to free an enchanted princess.
