Michael Steele is the first African American elected to statewide office as lieutenant governor of Maryland. In January 2009, he became the first African American to chair the Republican National Committee. His writings on law, business, and politics have appeared in the Washington Times and many other publications, as well as on Politico.com and Townhall.com. He regularly appears on FOX News and has been a guest on The Colbert Report.
