The Virals are put to the ultimate test when they find a geocache containing an ornate puzzle box. Shelton decodes the cipher inside, only to find more tantalizing clues left by "The Gamemaster." A second, greater geocache is within reach--if the Virals are up to the challenge. But the hunt takes a dark turn when Tory locates the other box--a fake bomb, along with a sinister proposal from The Gamemaster. Now, the real game has begun: another bomb is out there--a real one--and the clock is ticking.

Editorial Reviews

Editorial Reviews

“This book manages to be a crossover between middle grade fiction and young adult. It will certainly appeal to a wide range of ages while not containing anything inappropriate. The main character models strong character in her quest to do the right thing—even if it means sacrificing her life for the lives of others. There is also a lot of scientific information that is revealed as the group struggles to figure out the clues that will help them stop the murder of innocent people. Those who read Virals and Seizure will certainly want to read the next installment in this great young adult series. But be forewarned, reading this series will probably result in a strong yen to visit Charleston. It sounds fabulous.” National Book Examiner
“Reichs’ writing style is very descriptive and super fast-paced…With characters juggling school, romance, mystery, murder, and family drama, this book should appeal to readers mourning the end of James Patterson’s Maximum Ride series.” VOYA
“Red herrings and complex codes abound in the latest book in the Virals series…There is never a dull moment for fans of the series, which promises to be long running.” Booklist
“More than just a Bones, Jr., more than just an exploration of heightened natural abilities, this series mixes thrills with timeless coming-of-age themes, teasing the intellect with well-drawn characters and keeping the pages turning with a well-tuned pace. Another successful adventure.” Kirkus Reviews

Author Bio: Kathy Reichs

Kathy Reichs is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of many novels. Like the protagonist of her Temperance Brennan series, she is a forensic anthropologist, one of only 100 ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. A professor in the anthropology department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, she is a former vice president of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and serves on the National Police Services Advisory Council in Canada. Hers own life, as much as her novels, is the basis for the TV show Bones.
