Editorial Reviews

"[A] rich and immersive world…The machinations of Sabor are complex and engrossing, and one gets the sense that Fie’s journey is only one small peek into a much larger, expansive lore that Owen has created…Full of romance and suspense, this is a tale that will leave readers hungry for the next book in the series.” New York Times Book Review
“A passionate blend of adventure and intrigue wrapped around strong worldbuilding… Memorable and filled with diverse characters with fluid sexualities and identities.” Publishers Weekly (starred review)
“Owen offers well-balanced world-building and a propulsive plot and excels at tender, intimate moments and complicated, realistic romantic and familial relationships.” Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
“Narrator Amy Landon delivers an epic performance of this young adult fantasy novel…Landon’s task is not easy because most of the characters and creatures in this world have unique names and even more inventive sounding accents—all of which roll off her tongue. As tension builds and loyalties are tested, listeners will question whose side to take as Landon makes each character’s point of view sound absolutely convincing.” AudioFile
“One of the most exciting, exceptionally crafted fantasy debuts I’ve ever read. I did not want to leave this world! Absolutely breathtaking.” Claire Legrand, author of Furyborn
