He has received the National Magazine Award, the Hillman Prize for Opinion and Analysis Journalism, the George Polk Award, the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center Prize, and a “Genius” grant from the MacArthur Foundation. He is a national correspondent for the Atlantic.
